Technical Rules

  1. The Balkan Association of Veteran Athletes (BAVA) Championships is organized at the Romanian Athletics Federation initiative. The competition will take place in Bucharest, in the period 19th - 21st September 2014, on the stadium “Iolanda Bala┼č Söter”, located in 2, Primo Nebiolo Street, sector 1.
  2. The 24th edition of the championships will be conducted in compliance with the IAAF and EVAA Technical Rules and in agreement with the BAVA Statutes and the present guidelines issued by the Local Organizing Committee.
  3. The time schedule of the competition is announced on the BAVACS website: www.bavacs2014.ro
  4. Full names of the team managers with their contact information (e-mail, cell phone number) should be delivered to the Local Organization Committee until August 31st 2014 latest
  5. Athletes’ applications should be sent by their federations to the Local Organization Committee until the 4th of Sept 2014, 23:59 by e-mail following the instructions in the dedicated section of www.bavacs2014.ro.
  6. Team managers are held responsible for collecting health declarations and doping sampling consent from the athletes they approve.
  7. Each participant may compete in no more than 4 disciplines individually, maximum 2 disciplines per day and in both relays.
  8. The registration fee for one or two events is 15 €. Three events have a fee of 20 € and four events, respectively, 25 €. Relays fee is included. Each athlete will pay the fee to the corresponding national federation.
  9. The registration fees should be transferred by the Balkan federations into the organizers account which will be duly communicated to them. Delayed payment entails an additional penalty fee of 20€ per athlete to be accepted.
  10. No application will be approved after deadline. No application will be registered unless correspondingly paid for before the deadline.    
  11. Local Organization Committee must be informed regarding all changes applied to the registered entries before the Technical Meeting on Thursday, the18th of September 2014. No changes will be approved after this deadline.
  12. The start lists will be published on the website www.bavacs2014.ro at least three days before the competition begins.
  13. The Technical Meeting to be attended by the team managers will be held on 18th September in the boardroom of the Romanian Athletics Federation located in 2, Primo Nebiolo Str, Sect 1 at 18:30. Information will be distributed in advance in case of any change.
  14. Confirmation of entries: team managers or athletes must confirm the entry list while after the Technical Meeting.
  15. Each competitor will be given two start numbers which should be worn both on front and back. Exception includes high jump and pole vault, in which competitors should only wear one start number, either on front or back. Additional start numbers with country marks will be given in relay race and which should be picked up by team managers. Start numbers should not be folded or changed. Contrary action may lead to disqualification.
  16. All athletes must compete in the sport uniforms and colors of their national teams.
  17. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Friday, 19th September 2014, 2 pm at Iolanda Bala┼č Söter Stadium. Each country must be represented by its athletes who will participate in a ceremonial defile during the opening ceremony.
  18. Warm-up areas are located right next to the main track. No warm-up will be allowed on the main track. Basic changing rooms are provided nearby.
  19. All participants should register in the Call room. Application time in the Call Room for all events will be 15 minutes before the start of the event. Competitors who don't register on time will not be allowed to compete.
  20. Spikes: 9 mm maximum for track events should be needle or pyramid type. For field events the heel spike length shall not exceed 9mm except at high jump, pole vault and javelin where it shall not exceed 12 mm.
  21. All competitors will be accompanied to the competition area by an official. 
  22. Instructions to athletes at races will be given in English according to IAAF rules
  23. Athletes may start from either block-start or standing position at their own choice.
  24. The athletes who start incorrectly two times in one event shall be eliminated from the event.
  25. Block-start sensors and devices, electronic timing, photo-finish equipment and anemometers will be operational during the competition.
  26. The Half Marathon will take place in Her─âstr─âu Park located next to the competition stadium on the route presented on the website
  27. In relays the teams will combine two age categories for men and women in the following groups: 30-34 (women only), 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-74, and 75+. Every country can register no more than one team per group.
  28. Entries for relays must be submitted to the Local Organization Committee at least 24 hours before the start of the event and finally confirmed no less than 2 hours before the actual start.
  29. The competition will be judged by Romanian judges
  30. The Competition Director has the executive authority.
  31. For any objection a 100 € fee should be paid. If the objection is rejected, the money will be kept as a quotation fee.
  32. The objections must apply in no more than 30 minutes after the results are announced. The LOC Jury will judge all of the objections.
  33. If there are less than three competitors minimum medal degrees are used
  34. The medal ceremony will be held in a specially designated area approx. 30 minutes after the results are posted
  35. The person or entity that requires the testing of any competitor for doping is requested to pay, in advance, a fee of 350 Euro per case.
  36. During the whole competition emergency medical assistance will be provided by the organizers. Emergency calls at 112 – the medical service- may also be used in case of need.
